Claiming is what happens when the AI that made something was never connected to your team.
A connected assistant does not produce claim links: it has an identity in your team already, so what it makes lands there directly.
An unconnected AI can still make you something. It creates the artifact anonymously, with no account on either side, and sends you a link.
That artifact is unclaimed. It is live and anyone with the link can open it, but it is read-only, it belongs to nobody, and it disappears 24 hours after it was created.
Claiming is the moment you take ownership. The artifact moves into your team, editing unlocks, the expiry stops, and you decide who else can see it.

It covers the case where an AI reaches AgentGrid.io with no account on either side. Rather than failing, it makes the thing and hands it over, and you decide afterwards.
Connecting your AI is the smoother path, because the work simply arrives in your team.

The choice inside the claim
Claiming asks you one question that matters: does the agent keep access?
- Claim and grant the agent access. It receives its own scoped identity in your team and can keep editing this artifact and creating others, within the capabilities you granted.
- Claim without granting access. The work is yours either way. The AI stays read-only and cannot edit it again.
Granting while you claim is the smooth path: one click, and the agent's waiting connection completes on its own. Claiming without granting closes that waiting connection, but it does not lock the AI out. You can connect it any time afterwards, by adding the connector in Claude or the plug-in in ChatGPT, by telling a self-connecting agent to use agentgrid.io, or by minting a link from Share → Invite an agent. Whatever you choose, the agent never gets more than you have. Every request is checked against your live permissions, and you can revoke it at any time from Share → Manage access.
What happens if you never claim
The artifact expires 24 hours after creation and the content is removed. This is not recoverable, and the AI cannot un-expire it.
It can rebuild and re-share in seconds, so the fix is usually one sentence:

FAQ
Do I need an account to open a claim link? No. You can view an unclaimed artifact without signing in. You need an account to claim it, and creating one is part of the claim.
Why is the artifact read-only? Because nobody owns it yet. Editing unlocks when you claim.
A link I was sent stopped working. Most likely it passed the 24-hour window. Ask for a fresh link.
Can I claim something made for someone else? Anyone with the link can claim an unclaimed artifact. If it was shared privately with a specific address, you need to sign in with that address.
Does claiming cost anything? No. Claiming creates a free account and a team.
