Rename and duplicate

Both live under in the artifact view. Neither changes the artifact's files.

The ⋯ menu: Rename, Duplicate, Edit with AI, Delete file

Rename

Changes the display name. The artifact's address stays the same, so every link, and every reference your AI holds, keeps working.

Duplicate

Creates a new, independent artifact from this one. The copy has its own address and its own history from that point.

Use it when you want to try something without disturbing the original, or as a stand-in for templates. You can also duplicate from any specific version in the history panel, which is useful when you want the old version alongside the current one rather than in place of it. To roll back in place, use Restore instead.

Steps

::: lanes

In the app

Open the artifact, select , then Rename or Duplicate.

Ask your AI assistant

Duplicate this AgentGrid.io artifact and call the copy "Q4 draft".

Limits

  • There is no Move, because there are no folders yet. Artifacts also cannot move between teams: duplicate, or export and bring the copy back in.
  • Use clear names, the type and owner filters, and search to keep a team navigable. See Find an artifact.
  • Duplicating copies the artifact's content. It does not carry over chat history or a custom domain.

FAQ

Does renaming break links? No. Links use the artifact's address, not its name.

Does duplicating copy the history? The copy starts its own history. The original keeps its own.

Can I organize artifacts into folders? Not at the moment. Filters, search, and naming are the tools today.

Duplicate a version or restore it? Restore when the old version should become the current one. Duplicate when you want both.
