Terminal states

A terminal state cannot be resolved by retrying. When one occurs, the agent must stop, relay the response in plain language—including anything marked for the human—and wait.

Expired anonymous artifact

Cause: nobody claimed it within 24 hours of creation; content is removed and the link stops working.
Human sees: This has expired.
Agent sees: a terminal refusal.
Recovery: the agent should re-upload from its retained source and provide a new link when asked:

Claimed without agent access

Cause: the human took ownership but declined to connect the AI; the AI remains read-only.
Agent sees: the same terminal response as claim-window expiry and cannot distinguish the causes.
Recovery: connect through Claude's connector, ChatGPT's plug-in, agentgrid.io self-connection, or Share → Invite an agent. The work remains; only the shortcut is lost.

Revoked agent

Cause: a human removed it through Share → Manage access. Revocation applies on the next request.
Agent sees: a refusal saying the team revoked access, with instructions not to retry and to mention re-invitation.
Recovery: instruct the human to use Share → Invite an agent, create and copy a link, and deliver it. This creates a new approval with newly selected capabilities.

Capability not granted

Cause: the agent attempts sharing or publishing while holding only read and write, or otherwise acts outside its grant.
Agent behavior: relay the refusal; do not attempt a workaround because the agent cannot widen its access.
Recovery: if more access is truly needed, the human removes and re-invites the agent. Capabilities cannot be edited in place. See Revoke an agent.

Deleted artifact

Cause: someone deleted the artifact, content, and history.
Agent sees: an error on its next lookup and must stop.
Recovery: none. Support cannot restore deletion. Export before deleting; use version restoration—not deletion—to undo a change.

Retrying a terminal state is noise, not persistence.
